Back in production: Crystal Super micro-OLED optical engine, pre-orders open October 8th

The micro-OLED optical engine for the Crystal Super is back in production. A limited batch goes on sale on Thursday, October 8, and more batches will come in subsequent months.

How to order

  • On sale: Thursday, October 8
  • Limited quantity, available until sold out
  • Delivery in late November or December 2026, in order of purchase
  • One optical engine per serial number

Optical engines are available for both Crystal Super connector types, the original 70-pin connector and the newer 62-pin connector. The two aren't compatible, so please use the same account/email address you used to purchase your Crystal Super. If you ordered from a third-party retailer, please mention this in the order note (one step before checkout).

If in doubt, please contact our customer care. Every order is verified against the serial number, and any order that doesn't match a valid Crystal Super serial number will be cancelled and fully refunded.

For background on the connector change, see our earlier post.

We know the wait has been long, but for people hoping to upgrade to the micro-OLED Crystal Super, here's what you get today that you didn't have at launch:

  • The micro-OLED optical engine arrives on a very different software platform than the one the Crystal Super first shipped with, and everything we've built since then carries over.
  • Pimax Play has had plenty of updates since launch, as well as Pimax Play Evo, which adds 6DOF Recline Mode, Room-Tracking Offset, video recording, hand tracking, and Open Port, which runs with the SteamVR driver developed by community developer Sboys3.
  • Inside-out tracking has improved through updates to our SLAM algorithm.

Repairs and support

We've kept stock aside for repairs and warranty on both connector types, so existing headsets and optical engines stay supported. If you're unsure which connector your headset has, contact our support team with your serial number and we'll check it for you.
