2. Closer to the Lenses, More of the Image in View

The new ProFit Facial Interface reduces the distance between your eyes and the lenses.

This brings two direct benefits.

A More Comfortable Viewing Experience

When your eyes are positioned closer to the lenses, you no longer need to view the full image from a relatively farther position.

At the same time, the Studioform high-density foam helps redistribute facial pressure, moving more of the headset’s weight toward the cheekbones instead of concentrating it around the brow area.

Combined with the redesigned shell, the facial interface sits closer to your face while maintaining a stable fit.

This means:

A closer eye position isn't just about FOV—it also provides a more natural and comfortable viewing position.

A Wider Usable FOV

With your eyes positioned closer to the lenses, you can see more of the image that Dream Air SE is already rendering.

But there is an important distinction:

The rendered FOV has not changed.

The image generated by Dream Air SE remains the same as before. The headset’s optical hardware and software have not changed.

What changes is the position of your eyes relative to the lenses.

By positioning your eyes more appropriately, you can see more of the content that was already present in the rendered image, increasing the usable field of view during actual use.

Some users have reported that simply switching to the new ProFit Facial Interface can increase their visible FOV by up to approximately 20°.

For a change that does not modify the display hardware, optical system, or software algorithms, this represents a significant improvement in the overall viewing experience.

A simple way to think about it:

The size of the window hasn’t changed—but when you move closer to the window, you can see more of what’s outside.


3. Why Studioform?

Instead of concentrating more pressure around the brow area, the new design distributes more pressure toward the cheekbones.

The Studioform padding also provides improved light blocking, helping reduce ambient light that could otherwise affect immersion.

The Padding Is Replaceable

The foam padding on the new facial interface is attached using Velcro.

This means that when the padding needs to be maintained or replaced, you can simply remove and replace it without replacing the entire facial interface.

For users who spend long periods in VR, this makes maintenance easier while allowing the facial interface to adapt more flexibly to long-term use.
