Pimax Play, Everywhere

Coming to Linux as a dedicated client.

Most mini-PCs can't run VR the way Pimax headsets need.

Spation exists because we ran into that problem ourselves. Here's the story.

Pimax roadshow, behind the scenes · a tower PC being packed into a road case · practical event lighting

We built this to solve our own problem.

Pimax runs roadshows across the US, Europe, and Asia every year — hauling a full tower PC to each one is a real hassle, and most laptops can't run something like VR flight simulation at the standard our headsets need.

Flight sim is the toughest test we know

Sit still, read small instrument text at VR resolution, hold steady for a two-hour flight without a stutter. If a machine can do that, it can handle almost anything else in VR — and it turns out our partners needed the same thing, for events, demos, tight spaces, or just not wanting to lose an afternoon to configuring a PC.

Real Desktop Hardware, Not Laptop Parts.

Everything inside Spation is validated for VR's specific demands — not repurposed from a laptop, and not undersized to hit a price point.

Built for sustained load, not a benchmark spike

VR is a sustained thermal load, not a burst. Spation's chassis is engineered around real thermal headroom for that — desktop-class hardware, in something far smaller than a standard tower.

  • 1TB of onboard NVMe storage, with room to add more.
  • Memory and GPU are swappable, so the machine grows with you.
  • Two DisplayPort 2.1 outputs and an HDMI 2.1, one USB-C with DisplayPort 1.4a for VR headsets — a native line to your headset, no adapter in between.
  • Seven USB ports, 2.5G Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7 and BLE 5.4.

No Guesswork, Even Without a Preinstall.

Spation supports Windows and SteamOS. What removes the guesswork isn't a preloaded OS — it's hardware that's already matched and validated for VR.

What you don't have to figure out

  • No wondering whether your CPU or GPU is the bottleneck.
  • No RAM-speed rabbit holes.
  • No forum-diving to find a working configuration.
  • Compatible with Pimax Play.

Pimax Play is coming to Linux

Native Linux VR has historically been a mess — fighting drivers, fighting runtimes, headsets that don't even get recognized. Pimax Play is coming to Linux as a purpose-built client, not a bolted-on compatibility layer — particularly relevant given Spation's SteamOS support.

Or Build It Yourself.

For the subset of users who want full control rather than a fixed configuration.

Pimax supplies the chassis — you bring your own storage and GPU, and install Linux or whatever you prefer.
